Patricia J. Diaz

Deputy Secretary and Special Counsel

Patricia J. Diaz is Mellon’s deputy secretary and special counsel.

Previously, Patricia served as the executive director of The Y.C. Ho/Helen and Michael Chiang Foundation. Before then, she was an attorney in the exempt organizations practice area of the law firm of Loeb & Loeb, where she worked with nonprofit organizations on a variety of legal matters, including formation, tax exemption, governance issues, compliance with private foundation laws, grant agreements and other contracts, and dissolution. Earlier in her career, Patricia was a tax attorney with two other New York City law firms. In addition, she has taught as an adjunct instructor at Brooklyn Law School and Massachusetts School of Law.

She holds an AB magna cum laude from Duke University and a JD from Columbia University, where she was an editor of the Columbia Law Review. She is a member of the New York City Bar Association and has served three terms on its Committee on Non-Profit Organizations.
