Manager of Strategic Initiatives and Planning

Michael Gossett is the manager of strategic initiatives and planning for Public Knowledge. In this role, he assists the program officer in developing grantmaking strategies to support the creation and preservation of the cultural record.

Prior to assuming this position, Michael was a senior program associate for Public Knowledge, where he developed grant proposals and managed a portfolio of grants in digital preservation, web archiving, and digital monograph publishing. Previously, he served in a variety of grants management and data management positions with Mellon’s operations team. Michael also served as an incubator member at NEW INC, the New Museum’s cultural incubator for people working at the intersection of art, design, and technology from 2021-2022.

He holds a BA in English from Rhodes College and an MFA in poetry from the University of Maryland at College Park, and he is pursuing an MA in digital humanities at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
