Julissa Peña is the program associate for Humanities in Place.

Prior to joining Mellon, Julissa was a senior registration and financial analyst in the Office of the University Registrar at Columbia University, advising students, faculty, staff, parents, and other stakeholders. During her time at Columbia, she also oversaw the dissertation office at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, which supports all doctoral candidates at the university.

She holds a BA in Latin American studies and sociology from Wesleyan University, where she was a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow, as well as an MA in American studies from Columbia University.
