Columbia University's Justice-in-Education Initiative — part of the Center for Justice and the Heyman Center for the Humanities — provides education to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated persons and works to integrate the study of justice more fully into the Columbia University curriculum.  Funding from Mellon will expand existing efforts at Columbia to bring postsecondary opportunities to the incarcerated.
