New York City is launching a survey to measure diversity among the boards, staffs, and audiences of local arts and cultural organizations. This study will be funded by the Ford Foundation, which recently hosted a meeting to introduce the survey to representatives from arts organizations. Andrew W. Mellon Foundation vice president Mariët Westermann participated as one of the meeting's panelists. The Foundation has commissioned a survey of diversity of boards, staff, and audiences of North American art museums. Results of the survey will be made available by June 2015. Foundation staff are also collaborating with the City on the design of its diversity survey for local arts organizations.
