Chemistry and Materials Research at the Interface between Science and Art, an NSF- and Mellon Foundation-sponsored workshop that was held July 6–7, 2009, brought together chemists and materials scientists from museums, universities, national laboratories, industry, and other institutions to discuss specific scientific challenges in the study and preservation of cultural heritage.
