Managing Editor and Senior Producer
As managing editor and senior producer at Mellon, Alexandra King leads multimedia storytelling initiatives, merging editorial savvy with innovative approaches to engage audiences with the Foundation's mission.
Before Mellon, Alex led teams producing high-impact journalism across breaking news, enterprise, and features at CNN.
Her 2020 documentary No Olvidado: Death and Dignity on the US border won an Emmy award for Outstanding Feature Story. She has also won Edward R. Murrow, Webby, EPPY and ONA awards for her social and digital storytelling.
Before CNN, Alex was a news producer at the UN, covering human rights abuses, conflict, and humanitarian crises across the globe.
She's a 2019 National Press Foundation fellow of the Paris Accords of Science, a 2024 Poynter Women in Leadership Academy graduate, and a 2024 Cartena Foundation immigration reporting fellow.
Alex holds a BA in english literature from University College London and an MS in journalism from Columbia University.
