Grants
The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation supports a wide range of initiatives to strengthen the arts and humanities.
Prospective grantees should review program area guidelines before inquiring about grant support.
Information regarding the Foundation’s program areas and grantmaking priorities can be found in the program area descriptions—Higher Learning; Arts and Culture; Public Knowledge; and Humanities in Place—and in the Foundation’s annual report.
Features of this section include:
- Our Grants Database allows you to browse grants awarded by the Foundation since 1969. Filters are also available to search for grants within a particular program, timeframe, or geographic location. Grantseeking organizations can consult our program area descriptions to determine whether a project fits within Mellon's programmatic interests and priorities.
- Current and prospective grantees may consult our Grantmaking Policies and Guidelines for an overview of the grants inquiry and application process, information on grantmaking policies, and instructions and forms for grant proposals, reports, and modifications.
- Access to our Grantee Portal. In 2018, the Foundation launched its first grantee portal. Based on the Fluxx system, the portal is designed to streamline the processes for proposing and administering grants.
