Database Support Analyst: Job Description

The Andrew W. Summary

Reporting to the Director of Grant Information Systems, the Database Support Analyst will help to maintain and support the Foundation's grants management system (Fluxx).  The Database Support Analyst will monitor the grantee and staff help-desks and provide technical assistance to system users.  The Database Support Analyst will also assist with administration of the system and data quality and assurance tasks, including the review of grant and organization records.  The work is detail-oriented and requires excellent communications and problem-solving skills, positivity, patience, and a deep understanding of both the grants management system and grantmaking procedures.

Position Details

Responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Monitors the grantee and staff help-desks, responds to users in a timely and professional manner, and provides the technical support needed to ensure all users can work successfully in the system
  • Assists with data quality and assurance, reviewing grant information and documents for completeness and accuracy, as part of the pre-and post-award processes
  • Assists with administration of the Fluxx system, including monitoring and sending Fluxx email alerts, processing requests to update organization and contact records, and assisting with data clean-up projects
  • Participates in and contributes to the successful outcome of system releases, through system testing, and gaining a solid understanding of enhancements to provide support to external and internal users
  • Contributes to Data Management’s continued enhancements and management of the Foundation's grants management system
  • Helps to maintain and update the Data Management manual and other system documentation
  • Helps to develop training materials and assist with training sessions
  • Attends and contributes to Foundation meetings and cross-Foundational projects, as needed

Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least three years of experience, including at least two years of systems and database management experience and/or customer service or help-desk experience
  • The ability to quickly acquire proficiency in Foundation software (e.g., the Fluxx database)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An orientation toward self-starting, proactive anticipation of team needs, and creative problem solving
  • Superior organizational skills with precise attention to detail
  • Flexibility, adaptability, curiosity, integrity
  • A high degree of competency in the MS Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, and the ability to learn new applications
